The Year 2017 Water Quality Report meets all requirements for the Consumer Confidence Report for 2017. The Environmental Protection Agency and the State of California Title 22 requires that this report be prepared and posted by the community water system on an annual basis to keep the public informed.  Fort Irwin is required to report all the water quality results taken during 2017. Fort Irwin’s report contains information on the source of the water and any contaminants that may be present in the source water.

Fort Irwin Water system has undergone extensive changes since the last report. Fort Irwin completed construction of a new water treatment plant, Irwin Water Works (IWW), last year. The plant began treating some of the water provided to our residents in May 2016. Beginning 1 July 2016, all water provided to Fort Irwin was treated at IWW and is fully potable. Fort Irwin also began to decommission the old Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant and system in September 2016. The finishing steps in this transition will be occurring during the summer of 2017.

Fort Irwin was issued a Citation, dated April 30, 2018. Fort Irwin was required to collect a minimum of 60 samples of lead and copper twice during 2017. Fort Irwin failed to collect and report the required number of lead and copper analytical results to the State Water Board for 2017. The National Training Center and Fort Irwin has complied with the Citation requirements encompassing assurance the lead and copper monitoring program is maintained in accordance with the Lead and Copper Rule CCR, Title 22, Sections 64670 through 64690.80 and notification level Tier 3. Tier 3 notification for Lead and Copper Sampling will be published in the Annual Water Quality Report due in late June of 2018 for Fort Irwin. If you have health concerns concerning the consumption of this water, you may wish to consult your doctor. Fort Irwin has conducted sampling in May 2018 and will conduct sampling in July 2018 to meet the state’s sampling requirements. If you are concerned you may contact us for the most recent results at 760-380-5044.

This report’s purpose is to improve public health protection by providing educational material to allow consumers to make educated decisions regarding any potential health risks pertaining to the quality, treatment, and management of their drinking water supply.
