Environmental Assessment for Landfill Operations at Fort Irwin, CA.

An Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared to identify and implement a short-term (two to five year) solid waste disposal solution to address solid waste disposal needs at Fort Irwin, California.  Fort Irwin is developing plans to construct a Waste to Energy (WTE) facility at the Fort Irwin Landfill (FISL).  When operational, this facility will convert solid waste to energy and ultimately reduce the volume of waste at the FISL.  The current landfill cell at the FISL is nearing capacity.  Until a WTE facility can be constructed, Fort Irwin must develop a means to manage and dispose of solid waste until the WTE facility is operational.

The Environmental Assessment will be available for public review and comment beginning 30 July 2018. Electronic transmission of comments must be received by 29 August 2018 and comments sent by U.S. Mail must be postmarked by 29 August 2018. Copies of the EA are available at;
