CSM Thomas F. Hale is a native of Yazoo City, Mississippi.  He entered into service with the U.S. Army on August 26th, 1993.  Upon graduation from Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, he was assigned as an UH-1 Helicopter Mechanic with D Company, 4/228 Soto Cano Air Base Honduras.  Follow on assignments include tours C Company 2/3 Aviation at Hunter Army Airfield, A Co 2/25 at Wheeler Army Airfield Hawaii; D Company, 3/160th SOAR (A) at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia where he has spent 11 years serving in multiple leadership positions, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Production Control Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Charlie Company 2nd 160th SOAR First Sergeant, and Delta Company 2nd 160th SOAR First Sergeant. His last assignment was the Senior Enlisted Leader of the Special Mission Wing – Special Operations Advisory Group/NATO Special Operations Component Command Afghanistan in Kabul Afghanistan.


CSM Hale is a graduate of the UH-1 & UH-60 Utility Helicopter Repairers course,  Warrior Leadership Course, Advanced Leadership Course, Senior Leadership Course, First Sergeants Course, Enlisted Green Platoon, Combatives Level I, Survival/Evasion/ Resistance & Escape (SERE) Level C, Combat Lifesaver Course, Aviation Accident Prevention Course, Air Assault School, and AIRBORNE.

His awards include the Bronze Star (2OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC) , Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal , Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (5 OLC), Iraqi Campaign Medal (w/silver Star), Afghan Campaign Medal,  National Defense Service Medal (second award), Global War on Terror Expeditionary and Service Medal,  Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (w/ numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (fourth award),Presidential Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award, Air Force Meritorious Unit Award, Philippine Republic Presidential Unit Citation, Master Aircraft Crew member Badge, Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.

CSM Hale deployed in support of the following operations: Operation Enduring Freedom - Philippines, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Secure Tomorrow Haiti, Operation Iraqi Freedom 6 phases Liberation of Iraq, Transition of Iraq, Iraqi Governance, National Resolution, Iraqi Surge, and Iraqi Sovereignty, and Operation New Dawn (OND), Crisis Response Element (CRE), and Resolute Support – Freedom’s Sentinel (AFG)
