Welcome to Fort Irwin, California!  The following information is to assist you and your family upon arrival and when In-Processing to Fort Irwin.  Currently Ft. Irwin has a 24 hour; 7 days a week operated, NTC & Ft. Irwin Replacement Detachment, including federal and training holidays.  The Replacement Detachment will assist you in completing the 2-3 day in-processing activities.  Questions concerning in-processing or leave extensions should be directed to the NTC & Ft. Irwin Replacement Detachment.

Transportation:  Soldiers arriving by plane, should check in with the airport USO regarding transportation information and contact the NTC Replacement Detachment with any questions.  Contact the NTC and Fort Irwin Replacement Detachment at commercial (760) 380-4747/9095

Ontario Airport Arrivals:  Soldiers arriving to Ontario Airport, CA must take a taxi to the Claremont Greyhound Station and from there take the Greyhound Bus to the Barstow Greyhound Station.  Most of the airport taxis DO NOT accept credit cards so be prepared to pay with cash.  The average cost for a one way-trip is $25 - $30. Once you arrive to the Barstow Greyhound Terminal, call the NTC and Fort Irwin Replacement detachment and they will pick you up.  Remember to retain your receipts for Finance.  You can also visit the airport website for additional information and taxi fees and services.  http://lawa.org/welcomeONT.aspx

Los Angeles, CA (LAX) and Las Vegas, NV (LAS) arrival will comply with the following instructions:

Soldiers arriving to Los Angeles Airport, CA (LAX) must take the taxi to the Los Angeles Greyhound Bus Terminal and then take the Greyhound to Barstow.  Upon arrival to the Barstow Greyhound Station, contact the NTC & Ft. Irwin Replacement detachment for pick-up and transportation to Fort Irwin. TAXI SERVICE FROM ONTARIO, LAS VEGAS AND LOS ANGELES AIRPORTS TO BARSTOW AND IRWIN WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED.  REIMBURSEMENT IS LIMITED TO COST EFFECTIVE TRANSPORTATION (BUS) AS STATED ABOVE.

Arriving by POV from the Ontario/Los Angeles area:  Take the I-15 North and exit on Fort Irwin Road.  Turn left and drive for approximately 31 miles to the main gate.  Once you come through the gate, continue straight to Langford Lake Road (1st Light).  Make a left on Langford Lake Rd., continue straight until you reach Bldg 109 on the right hand side (past three Stop Signs).  Make a right into the parking lot for NTC & Ft. Irwin Replacement Detachment in Bldg 109. 

Alternate route from the gate:
Continue straight to Inner Loop Road (first stop sign).  Make a left on Inner Loop Rd., continue straight until you reach Barstow Road (first stop sign).  Make a right and continue straight to Langford Lake Road (first stop sign).  Make a left on Langford Lake Rd., continue straight through one stop sign and Bldg 109 will be on the right hand side.

From the Las Vegas area:  Take the I-15 South, exit Fort Irwin Road.  Turn right and drive for approximately 31 miles to the main gate.  Once you come through the gate, continue straight to Langford Lake Road (1st Light).  Make a left on Langford Lake Road, continue straight until you reach Bldg 109 on the right hand side (past three stop signs).  Turn right into the parking lot for Bldg 109. 

Alternate route from the gate: continue straight to Inner Loop Road (first stop sign).  Make a left on Inner Loop Rd., continue straight until you reach Barstow Road (first stop sign).  Make a right and continue straight to Langford Lake Road (first stop sign).  Make a left and continue straight through one stop sign and Bldg 109 will be on the right hand side.

Billeting:  Unaccompanied E-5 and below will stay in barracks provided by the NTC & Ft. Irwin Replacement Detachment until they complete the 2-3 day in-processing.  It is highly recommended that SSGs and above, and/or accompanied Soldiers make temporary housing arrangements, as soon as, PCS orders are received or prior to departing their losing unit.  The Landmark Inn is the only on-post lodging facility and can be reached at 760-386-4040.

Permissive TDY:  The NTC & Ft. Irwin Replacement Detachment cannot approve Permissive TDY.  Once a Soldier signs in to the NTC & Ft. Irwin Replacement, the Soldier must begin and complete the 2-3 day in-processing.  Upon completion, the Soldier can request Permissive TDY through his gaining unit. 

General In–Processing Information:

Your 2-3 day in-processing will include verification of assignment and pinpoint orders, personnel, finance, medical records screening, ID Cards/DEERS, post vehicle registration, dental screening, ACS, Youth Services, and transportation.  The Commanding General and Command Sergeant Major Newcomers Brief is a mandatory in-processing brief for all Soldiers.  Spouses are encouraged to attend.
