     Welcome to the National Training Center and Fort Irwin and congratulations on your selection for this challenging assignment!  Since 1940 the high desert of the Mojave has provided the back drop for tough, realistic training that is critical to the success of America's Warriors and the security of our great Nation. At the same time, our location in Southern California means that there are numerous opportunities to take advantage of during your time off.

On post, Fort Irwin has something for everyone: excellent schools, modern privatized housing, restaurants and shopping.  We have recently opened new barracks, added a new Child Development Center, skate park, dog park and modernized our gyms to meet the needs of our Soldiers and families.....all to make Fort Irwin a world class community and an assignment of choice.
