How much will I receive?
Based on your length of active duty service, you are entitled to a percentage of the following:
- Cost of tuition and fees, not to exceed the most expensive in-state undergraduate tuition at a public institution of higher education (paid to school).
- Monthly housing allowance* equal ot the basic allowance for housing payable to a military E-5 with dependents, in the same zip code as your school (paid to you).
- Yearly books and supplies stipend of up to $1000 per year (paid to you).
- A one-time payment of $500 paid to certain individuals relocating from highly rural areas.
*Note: The housing allowance and books and supplies stipend are not payable to individuals on active duty. The housing allowance is not payable to those pursuing training at half time or less or to individuals enrolled in distance learning.

Available Tests:
· AFCT – This exam is given only to military personnel and requires a DA Form 4187 signed by the commander and submitted to MILPO for approval prior to testing.
Exception: Soldiers who have attended the BSEP Class are not required to submit
a DA Form 4187 for approval if they are administered the AFCT at the end of the class; however, they must still meet all the eligibility requirements.
· AFAST – It is required that soldiers review the AFAST information pamphlet (DA Pamphlet 611-256-2) before signing up. This exam is given only to military personnel and requires a DA Form 4187 signed by the commander and submitted to MILPO for approval prior to testing. Soldiers must obtain a score of 90 or higher to pass.
· CLEP – This test is offered through Barstow Community College 760-252-2411 extension 7601-Bldg 285 for testing dates and times. http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html
· DLPT – This exam is given only to military personnel and requires a DA Form 4187 signed by the commander and submitted to MILPO for approval prior to testing. Soldiers must wait 180 days before a retest is permitted.
· DLAB – This exam is given only to military personnel and requires a DA Form 4187 signed by the commander and submitted to MILPO for approval prior to testing. Soldiers must obtain a score of 95 or higher to pass (effective 01 Oct 06).
· Pre-GT – This exam is given only to military personnel. No DA Form 4187 is required. Soldiers must schedule an appointment prior to testing.
· TABE – Tests of ADULT Basic Education. No DA Form 4187 is required.
· Proctored Exams – This includes military course exams and college correspondence exams. Participants must have their exams/exam login information mailed directly to post testing and attempt to test within two weeks of its arrival. No one will have access to their exam before/after testing. It will be the examiner’s responsibility to return the exam for grading. Participants must inquire of their school as to when to expect their exam at this facility and provide this information to the Test Administrator.
· ACT - This exam is only available to military personnel at this facility. *Use of a regular or scientific calculator is permitted. Retest participants must pay the current test fees prior to retesting. http://www.act.org

· GRE - Military personnel must see a counselor for information on this exam. (This exam is given at National Test Centers). http://www.ets.org

· GED – This exam is only available to military personnel at this facility. Soldiers must complete the Pre-GED before counselors will order this exam.
