COL Kevin Jacobi graduated 19E OSUT training, Ft Knox Kentucky in 1988 and was assigned to the 100th Training Division (USAR). In the fall of 1988 COL Jacobi entered the ROTC program at Eastern Kentucky University and was commissioned a Regular Army 2LT of Armor from Eastern Kentucky University on 15 December 1990.
COL Jacobi is a graduate of Airborne School, Northern Warfare School, Armor Officer Basic Course, Ranger School, Scout Platoon Leader Course, Maneuver CPTs Career Course, CGSC and SAMS.
Assignments include: Tank Platoon Leader 4-64 AR from September 1991 to July 1992, Scout Platoon Leader 4-64 AR from July 1992 to December 1993. From December of 1993 to June 1994 he served as the Assistant S3, 4-64 AR. He served as the Aide-De-Camp to Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver, 24th ID (m), from June 1994 to February 1995. Additional service to the 24th ID (M) included G3 Plans officer, 24th ID, from February 1995 to July 1995.
Following the advance course COL Jacobi was assigned to USAREUR where he served as the S3 Air, 1-77AR, 1 1 ID (M) from August 1995 to October, 1996. In November 1996 COL Jacobi took command of C Company, 1-77 AR, and served as the TF Eagle Heavy Reserve Company assigned to 2-2 IN in Bosnia from March 1996 to Oct 1997. In June 1998 COL Jacobi took command of HHC/1-77AR.
Upon PCSing to the United States, COL Jacobi served as a Small Group Instructor for the Armor Captain’s Career course, Ft Knox, Ky. Following his tour as an SGI, COL Jacobi served as Doctrine writer for Combined Arms Doctrine Center, Ft Knox. Following CGSC and SAMS, COL Jacobi served as a Maneuver planner for the 1st Infantry division in Tikrit Iraq. Subsequently, COL Jacobi served as S3 for 1-77 AR (2/1 ID) in Schweinfurt Germany, rebuilding the Battalion following OIF 05-07. COL Jacobi then served as Executive Officer for TF 1-77 for OIF 06-08, serving with Ready First in Ramadi, Iraq.
COL Jacobi, PCS’d to the Combined Arms Center, Ft. Leavenworth in December 2008 and served as a Tactics Instructor for ILE. COL Jacobi commanded 1-13 Cavaalry (WARHORSE), 3/1 AD, Ft Bliss, from 2009 to 2011. COL Jacobi served as the 1AD ACofS, G3 from 2011 to 2012. Following graduation from the US Army War College in the summer of 2013, COL Jacobi deployed to Djibouti, Africa where he served as the Director of Operations, CJ3-5/7 for CJTF HOA. COL Jacobi redeployed in May 2014.
