LTC Shane D. Celeen 
2/11 Commander

 

Lieutenant Colonel Shane D. Celeen commissioned as an Armor Officer from the United States Military Academy in 1996.  His initial assignment to Friedberg, Germany, included Tank Platoon Leader, Tank Company Executive Officer and Battalion Maintenance Officer in 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment. His next assignment at Fort Riley, Kansas, included serving in a variety of staff positions in Headquarters, 24th Infantry Division; 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division; and 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment. He later commanded C Company, 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment during the invasion of Iraq and Operation Iraqi Freedom I. LTC Celeen next served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science for University of Washington Army ROTC in Seattle, Washington, prior to attending Intermediate Level Education (ILE) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

 

Upon completion of ILE, LTC Celeen served as a Military Transition Team (MiTT) Team Chief in Iraq advising, training and assisting various Iraqi Army and National Police units at the Battalion, Brigade and Area (Corps) Command levels. His next assignments included Battalion Executive Officer for 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment and Brigade Executive Officer for 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas.  His most recent assignment was as the Professor of Military Science for Colorado State University Army ROTC.

 

LTC Celeen’s deployments include Operation Joint Guard in Bosnia-Herzegovina (1997-1998) as Platoon Leader, Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003) as a Company Commander, Operation Iraqi Freedom (2008-2009) as a Military Transition Team Chief and Operation New Dawn (2010-2011) as a Battalion Executive Officer.

 

His military education includes Master Fitness Trainer, SERE-C, Air Assault School, Armor Officer Basic and Captains’ Career Course, the Combined Arms Services Staff School, Joint Planner’s Course and U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

 

LTC Celeen’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device and three oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal with bronze service star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with three service stars, GWOT Service and Expeditionary Medals and NATO medal. His badges include the Combat Action Badge and Air Assault Badge.
