CSM Carlos E. Esmurria was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on February 2 1966. He enlisted in the United States Army in August 1984 as a 13B Field Artillery Cannon Crewman, and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma under One Station Unit Training B3(OSUT) as an honor graduate of cycle 47-84.
CSM Esmurria has served in a myriad of positions to include; duties as a Light and Mechanized Artillery Howitzer Chief of Section; Drill Instructor; Senior Drill Instructor; Master Fitness Trainer; Gunnery Sergeant; Platoon Sergeant; Equal Opportunity Advisor; Firing Battery 1SG; Intelligence Sergeant; Operations Sergeant, and Senior CSM trainer/Observer Controller of the Fire Support Division (Wolf Team) at the National Training Center and Fort Irwin California and Command Sergeant Major of two Artillery Cannon Battalions at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington and Command Sergeant Major of the 210th Fires Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea.
CSM Esmurria’s military education includes Graduate of the Sergeant’s Major Academy Class 55, JTAC Counter-IED Course, Battle Staff Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Drill Instructor Course, Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI), Oklahoma Mediation Course, Army Master Fitness School; Army Combatives Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, and the Primary Leadership Development Course.
CSM Esmurria’s education includes: Bachelor in Human Resource Management from Trinity College and a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Psychology from Excelsior College. CSM Esmurria is currently completing his Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University.
CSM Esmurria’s awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with 1 OLC, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (9th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Korean Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze Star, Kosovo Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 5, Southwest Asia Kuwaiti Liberation Medal and two NATO Medals for operations in Kosovo and Afghanistan. He is also a recipient of the Honorable and Ancient Order of St Barbara, the Order of St. Merkury, and the Noble Patron of Armor Award
CSM Esmurria is currently headed to Fort Irwin, California to assume duties as the Command Sergeant Major United States Army Garrison and Fort Irwin. His previous assignment was with the 210th Fires “Thunder” Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Second To None) as the Command Sergeant Major.
