Temporary Lodging
The wait times for family housing on Fort Irwin vary by numerous factors such as rank, number of dependents, and time of the year. Therefore as a general rule Soldiers should plan for a short stay in a hotel/motel/inn while waiting for a housing assignment from Pinnacle for on post housing.

Pinnacle does have temporary housing available however they periodically also have slight wait lists. Additionally placement on Pinnacle’s temporary housing list is not automatic and rules for eligibility are different than the regular housing list. Soldiers interested in being placed on the temporary housing list must specifically request to be placed on that waitlist when physically in-processing Pinnacle. Unlike being placed on the permanent family housing list which accepts pre applications, the requirements to be placed on the temporary housing waitlist include that a Soldier be signed into Fort Irwin from PCS leave and have his or her dependants physically on Fort Irwin.

Aside from temporary housing, the Landmark Inn is the only temporary lodging facility located on the installation. There are also numerous off post hotels and motels, however they are all located in Barstow which is approximately 35-40 miles from the post. To view a listing of off post hotels and prices please click this link: Hotel.docx.

For reservations or pricing questions for the Landmark Inn please call them directly at: 1-800-GO-ARMY1 or (760) 386-4040. Additionally reservations and photos can be found online at:

(**Don’t forget to ask for the PCS rate!!)

It is important to note that due to accommodations for training rotations, vacancy at the Landmark Inn varies so it is highly suggested that Soldiers planning to stay there make reservations prior to arrival.

For those brining pets, Fort Irwin has an on post kennel, SGT Fuzzbuddy, which can provide boarding while waiting for housing. For information on pricing and requirements please call (760) 380-7387 or visit their website at:
